Multi Channel Analyzer USB-MCA4 [Applicable Model] APG7400A |
Q1 | Does this product have a list mode function? |
A1 | Yes, this product has a list mode function. In the list mode, when
the waveform-shaped output signal from the spectroscopy amplifier exceeds
a preset threshold and it is determined that the crest value is between
LLD and ULD, the threshold from the start of measurement has been exceeded
It is an 8-byte list data grouping elapsed time, wave height value and
channel number up to the time, transferred to PC via USB cable and saved
to file. In the attached application, the binary format to save can be selected for big or little endian, and the function to convert the binary data to comma-separated text (CSV) format is also attached. |

Q2 | "Connection error" dialog box is displayed when starting the attached application, and the computer and the device can not be connected. |
A2 | Please refer to "Ethernet". |

Q3 | Does it support USB 3.0? |
A3 | Connection and use with the USB 3.0 port are available. However, the communication speed is USB 2.0 specification. |

Q4 | Do you offer sample programs? |
A4 | Yes, for now we offer sample programs only for a few products. Please download from this page and use it.. The development language is Visual C ++, Visual C #, Linux, LabVIEW. |

Q5 | Does this product have a Multi Channel Scaler (MCS) function? |
A5 | Yes, It is not a standard specification. But you can use time information
in list mode. It can also be added as an option. With this option, MCS spectrum can be generated inside this product. In the MCS mode, spectrum data is generated with the horizontal axis representing time from nanosecond to seconds and the vertical axis counting. Since the horizontal axis is the time width per channel in advance, the dwell time is selected from the minimum 40 ns to the maximum 100 s. The number of channels can be 16384 and 232 counts per channel. Detects valid events within the LLD and ULD ranges and adds the count to the corresponding elapsed time channel based on the time information at the timing exceeding the threshold. While the MCS mode is running, you can clear the MCS count by inputting the LV - TTL level signal to the "VETO" LEMO connector on the front panel. |

Q6 | Does this product have a Coincidence function? |
A6 | Yes, It is not a standard specification. But you can use time
information in list mode. It can also be added as an option. This is a mode to acquire simultaneously detected time and wave height value within a set time by using channel 1 and channel 2. The set time range is from a minimum of } 40 ns to a maximum of } 10 sec. You can save list data of 2 channels at the same time as list mode and create 2 dimensional histogram (2048 x 2048 channels) with PHA of horizontal axis channel 1 and PHA of vertical axis channel 2. |

Q7 | Is there a dead time? How much is that? |
A7 | Yes, The dead time is a time period when MCA can not measure peak value. New events can not be measured while events occur irregularly, such as radiation, while events are being detected, peak detection, digitization of wave height values, memory rewriting, resetting of crest value. The dead time of this device is fixed 1.5 sec. |

Q8 | Does this product have a GATE function? |
A8 | Yes. To acquire event data at that time according to external conditions when an event occurs, input the LV - TTL level signal to the "GATE" LEMO connector on the front panel. It is measured when it is High, but it is not measured when it is Low. |
Top |
Q9 | Does this product have a VETO function? |
A9 | Yes. If you want to discard event data at that time due to external conditions at the occurrence of an event, input the LV - TTL level signal to the "VETO" LEMO connector on the front panel. This has the opposite effect to "GATE". Measurement is performed when it is Low, but not when it is Low. The timing is the same as GATE mentioned above. |

Q10 | Can I reset the time information externally during measurement? |
A10 | Yes. While measuring in the list mode, input the LV - TTL level signal to the "VETO" LEMO connector on the front panel. VETO function can not be used while list mode is running. If you want to use VETO, input the inverted VETO signal to the "GATE" LEMO connector on the front panel. |

Q11 | How can I connect the cable with BNC connector from the detector to the USB-MCA? |
A11 | Signal input connector to this device is "EPL.00.250.NTN"
made by LEMO or its equivalent shape. When using a cable with a BNC connector, it is possible to connect with this device using the following conversion adapter. Manufacturer: Huber & Suhner Manufacturer model: 33_QLA-BNC-01-1/1-_NE Contents: QLA-01 to BNC Connector Gender 1 Interface: QLA-01 Connector Gender 2 Interface: BNC |
